Acumen Capacity Index (ACI)

Acumen Capacity Index Profile

What is Acumen Capacity Index (ACI)?

Acumen Capacity Index: Single-Science Profile

Our ability to discern and interpret our experiences lies at the core of our unique talents. These patterns of thought affect our actions, interactions and decisions every day. The Acumen Capacity Index (ACI) provides a model to identify, appreciate and develop these patterns of thought to achieve our greatest impact.

What does Acumen Capacity Index Measure?

The ACI explores the question: WHAT personal talents do we have at our disposal?

In the context of the Acumen Capacity Index, a person’s acumen is their keenness and depth of perception or discernment. The stronger a person’s acumen, the greater their ability to make distinctions in how they view themselves and the world around them. Everyone's brain has a unique thought process or model through which they filter and assess their views of the world. These patterns of thought determine the natural talents that people bring to any situation or role. Therefore, understanding these patterns enables people to apply their potential.

ACI assesses a person’s clarity and focus in these three distinct dimensions of thought:

  • Systemic: Definitions, structure and order.
  • Extrinsic: Comparisons, practicality and usefulness.
  • Intrinsic: Feelings, emotions and individuality.

People use each of the three dimensions in varying degrees; however, all are used in the process of making a decision. The difference in clarity and focus in each area define how we think and make decisions. This unique pattern of thinking provides us with the natural talents that develop as a result.

Exploring Patterns of Thought & Perception

The ACI is a powerful assessment based on the science of "axiology" developed by Robert S. Hartman. Hartman developed the Hartman Value Profile (HVP) and the ACI is based on (and expands on) this original work. It uses robust mathematical equations to explore how people interpret their experiences. The TTI Success Insights® Acumen Capacity Index (ACI) describes a person in six core dimensions split across two perspectives (internal and external, or self view and world view):

The "Self View" Explores:

  • Sense of Self - How clearly we see ourselves, our strengths, limits and areas for improvement.
  • Role Awareness - How clearly we see and separate our roles in life, be it as a manager, team or family member.
  • Self Direction - How clearly we see our future, the goals we have, and the path toward them.

The "World View" explores:

  • Understanding Others - How clearly we see others, their strengths, limits and areas for improvement.
  • Practical Thinking - How clearly we see cause and effect, the connection between actions and results.
  • Systems Judgment - How clearly we see systems, structure and authority.

The Acumen Capacity Index report spans 12-pages, exploring various intricacies about how people think and interpret their experiences. The ACI report provides a valuable platform to identify, appreciate and apply a person's unique talents based on their "patterns of thought".

Acumen Capacity Index: A Multi-Science Approach

ACI is a Single-Science Assessment - It explores the science of acumen or What talents we have at our disposal

Explore our Multi-Science Assessments, combining - Acumen, Behaviour, Driving Forces, Competencies, Emotional Intelligence

Understanding how we interpret experiences and make decisions has become more prevalent in business with the emergence and popularity of neuroscience. The challenge is that since this endeavour involves the brain it can be a difficult concept for the layperson to understand and use. This is where the Acumen Capacity Index can help. However, even with the ACI, it can still feel like unfamiliar territory for the learner and this is where having a "multi-science" assessment can help.

Acumen Capacity Index Profile - Multi–science Assessment

Why is Multi-Science Important?

When we combine the ACI with our DISC and Driving Forces assessments (TriMetrix® ACI), we have a powerful combination that enhances our understanding and appreciation of a person. By combining the information in the ACI with insight into one's behavioural (DISC) style, for example, we can gain a greater awareness of the individual's tendencies. For instance, at a behavioural level, someone with a "high C" may seek lots of information, facts, structure and rules, however, if they had low clarity in "Systems Judgement", it would lead them to mis-judge the intention of a system. So even if the person had collected lots of data and information, they could be mis-applying it, thus not reaching their maximum potential. With both pieces of information (i.e. ACI and DISC), we can craft specific conversations and strategies to apply both behavioural style and patterns of thought in the most productive way.

ACI Accreditation via the ACI-DNA Upgrade Accreditation

Ultimate OD Toolkit

In order to access the Acumen Capacity Index, accreditation is first required. There are two steps to achieve ACI accreditation (earning you the formal designation CPAA):

(Please note that step 1 must be completed before step 2)

The Ultimate OD Toolkit Extension

In ACI-DNA Accreditation, we will explore the DNA model (looking at WHICH competencies people have mastered) and the ACI model (looking at WHAT personal talents people have at their disposal). We will also look at the integration of these two models with the rest of the TTI suite of tools, ensuring you have a more complete understanding of human performance.

The ACI-DNA Accreditation is facilitated via a series of weekly virtual sessions (approximately 12-14 weeks depending on public holidays etc). These are facilitated from our purpose-built virtual training studio. Each week there will be a facilitator-led workshop accompanied by additional self-study exercises to help embed the learning.

Unlike most assessment companies, we are able to provide you with more than one perspective, ensuring you have a more complete understanding of human performance. In total, we offer 5 sciences of performance. Attending the ACI-DNA "multi-science” accreditation will ensure you have more tools, resources, solutions, and better quality training to solve more client challenges — and ultimately win more business!
